Ragi refers to a musician who sings Gurbani as kirtan, often in a raag-based tradition. A ragi may perform with other musicians as a jatha. The term names a musical role; it is not interchangeable with granthi, the person who tends to and reads from Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji in many settings.
